This is a book on increasing your emotional intelligence and conquering your worries. To that end, we wrote this book about NLP and Neuro-Semantics. In that sense, this is a book on cutting-edge approaches (patterns, processes, “games”) for building an educated, brave, and informed approach to dealing with frightening objects, events, people, and ideas.
This book is also about mastering the skill of reaching the most suitable, beneficial, and empowering mind-body states. Then you may utilize them to enhance your life and get rid of people that just make you unhappy.
What will you discover in this book?
What fresh insights will you gain?
What new talents will you acquire?
You’ll realize that feelings are simply that: emotions. They are not definitive instructions from Heaven about what to do. They just inform you the difference between how you have planned the way things should proceed and your real experience. You’ll realize that you’re more than your feelings. They are an important part of you, yet you are more than what you feel. And emotions might lead you astray.
You will discover how to Quality Control your brain. After detecting an emotion and verifying its correctness and validity, you must investigate it in terms of its “ecology.”
Is it actually serving you?
Does it make your life better?
Will it make you a better person?
If not, you will learn how to tone down, decrease, lessen, or even erase unproductive, unproductive, and degrading emotions in these pages. You’ll learn how to take command of the internal cinematic Feature Movies that play in your head. And there’s plenty more. You’ll discover how to utilize your thoughts and emotions to become more resourceful, fearless, focused, and aligned with your own values and aspirations. You’ll discover how “speak” (how you phrase things) can either make life a living nightmare or a lovely paradise. You learn the framework for making life meaningful and developing a strong relationship with ideas.
How do we know this method works?
Is this model viable? Has it been effective in our lives? Is it effective in the lives of individuals with whom we have collaborated?
The origins of Games for Mastering Fear may be traced back to Dr. Bob and me learning the NLP paradigm fifteen years ago. That’s when we first came across some of the magical-like ways for overcoming fear in this book. Actually, it was my revelation that life-long worries and phobias might be healed in a matter of minutes that drew me into the area of NLP while I was still in shock.
I didn’t trust the so-called “Phobia Cure” when I first heard about it. As a cognitive-behavioral psychologist, I couldn’t understand how the process would function as described. When I first “run the pattern” with a client, a lovely lady suffering from a phobia, I told her that I had recently discovered a new procedure and didn’t know whether it would help, but if she was willing, I’d like to give it a shot. She was up for it. When I asked her to regain her phobia a few minutes later, she couldn’t. I’m quite sure I was more astonished and stunned than she was!
That went on for the following half-dozen times I used the design. I was convinced that it would not work this time. Nonetheless, it worked each time. Individuals would continuously undergo a metamorphosis in front of my eyes and would be unable to regain their phobia. Though I was still skeptical, I was completely engrossed in the process. “How does this work?” I had to know. “What accounts for this remarkable transformation?”
Those were the questions that prompted me to study NLP, read everything I could about it, and become a qualified NLP trainer. Bob told me a similar experience. He describes how NLP captivated him and drew him forward to study about the “magic” within the human mind and nerve system that could achieve such outcomes. His passion prompted him to change occupations and go on an altogether new path, all while seeking recurrent proof that it works and that the transformations stay.
Years later, I uncovered another another model for how the human mind and body generate “reality.” It happened one day when I was investigating resilient people who had the almost magical capacity to recover from any issue or tragedy without becoming traumatized in the first place. Meta-States is the name I gave to the model. Bob and I finally spearheaded the development of the discipline currently known as Neuro-Semantics ( www.neurosemantics.com ).
Later, with Bob’s persistent support, I restructured Meta-States into Frame Games (1995/2000). (2000). This relates to how we play our lives’ Games (what we say, feel, and do) with ourselves and others, and how we do so based on our mental understandings of the Rules of the Game (the Frames). This has resulted in a number of application trainings and publications, including Games Business Experts Play (2001), Games Slim People Play (2001), and now this third book in the frame game series.
We put the original materials on overcoming fear using NLP and NS to the test at Gastonia College in North Carolina, especially through Bob’s presentation of this content. He taught this information to adults as part of a course called “Mastering All Your Fears.” I then formatted it into the Frame Games framework. That’s the gist of the narrative.
Who Should Pick Up This Book?
We wrote this book for everyone who has fears, phobias, anxieties, or other unpleasant feelings that keep them anxious, apprehensive, frightened… fearful of life, afraid of themselves, afraid of their emotions. We wrote it in such a way that you may continue the tale as you find and experience the “magic” for yourself. That is our wish. We hope that you will reject the old Games in favor of new Games of Vitality, Courage, and Confidence, which will make the rest of your life a fascinating experience.
Is it necessary to be familiar with NLP or Neuro-Semantics to utilize this book to overcome fears? You do not. Even while it would be extremely beneficial, it is not required.
Now, on to the Games… to rejecting the Old Games that have harmed your success, happiness, and ingenuity, and to embrace the New Games that will make your life more magical and fortunate!
