DescriptionLaurel Parnell demonstrates how to utilize Attachment-Focused EMDR with trauma from early childhood separation and loss in this session. Laurel Parnell is an EMDR therapist who is passionate about helping clients and professionals attain insight, balance, and healing. You will be motivated to implement the principles in your personal and professional life.
In this video, the client exhibits worry, difficulty sleeping, and anger as a result of a forthcoming transfer. She was upset and crying as she revealed her thoughts and concerns about leaving her friends and family to relocate to a city barely three and a half hours away by train. Even while she understood her anxieties were irrational—she knew she could and would remain in touch with the people she cared about—she was nonetheless plagued by anxiety and fear of separation. She believed her anxiety stemmed from her early separation from her mother as an infant, when she was taken to India to live with her grandparents and then returned to live with her parents when she was around two years old, losing her grandparents and extended family in India to whom she was attached. The client claimed that her mother had difficulty relating to her due of their early separation and also because she was studying hard in medical school during her youth. As a youngster, the client recalled feeling abandoned, lonely, and furious as a result of her mother’s lack of availability, even throwing temper tantrums and biting other children.
You will discover the EMDR procedures that Laurel Parnell use to locate the target and assist the client in feeling grounded and at ease.
