DescriptionThe client in this video, a therapist, is afraid of public speaking. She would want to give a public presentation, but she is really nervous and avoids situations where she would have to speak. She claims that when she talks, she loses her ability to think and that she suffers from major anticipatory anxiety, which has impaired her sleep in the days leading up to scheduled activities. Her therapeutic objectives included feeling secure enough that “I can manage whatever comes so I can think.” She desired to be able to speak in public and give lectures, as well as to see more couples without restless nights.
The customer used tactile stimulation pulsers for bilateral stimulation and installed resources during the session. The bridging approach was then utilized to bridge from a recent example of her speaking fear to a target from the past. We returned to the occurrence we spanned from to assess our job after processing that aim to completion and installing a positive cognition. She felt considerably better, but she discovered another region that was still charged. We then bridged a second time to discover and process another target from her upbringing. When that was finished, we returned to the same anxiety-inducing circumstance to double-check our work. She felt much better in that setting since there was no distress. She then pictured herself speaking in the future. These felt better, but new problems arose that she was not aware of previously. Following our exploration of these, we opted to end the session with the knowledge that these might be addressed in future sessions. I review the session and explain what I did and why at the end of the video.
