Qi Gong, often known as the “Grandmother of Tai Chi,” is the fundamental exercise regimen in Chinese medicine. It focuses on releasing the blocks in your body’s circulating energy, enabling your life force, known as “qi,” to flow freely. Many ancient and modern practitioners believe that when your qi flows properly, your body and mind are balanced and capable of assisting you in living your healthiest life. Whether you are concerned about your qi or your general health, Qi Gong may provide great advantages for your physical and mental well-being.
Qi Gong’s Health Advantages
For thousands of years, Qi Gong has been utilized as a technique in traditional Chinese medicine, both as a preventative exercise and as a cure for chronic sickness. As a result, anecdotal evidence of Qi Gong’s health benefits in illness prevention, stress reduction, and healthy aging is abundant. However, because there were no professional medical studies to back up that findings until recently, Western medicine dismissed the practice as insignificant at best and false at worst.
This paradigm has shifted. When Western scientists began a comprehensive investigation of Qi Gong, they were unable to ignore its good health effects. While the study is still in its early stages, hundreds of physiological and psychological advantages of Qi Gong have been documented in respected medical publications, including:
• Nervousness. Qi Gong has been demonstrated in studies to reduce anxiety, enhance balance in the autonomic nervous system (our fight, flight, or freeze response), and improve general health.
• Bone Mineral Density (BMD). Women’s bone mineral density rose after Qi Gong activities, according to studies.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). According to research, consistent practice can reduce pain and enhance sleep, energy, and physical performance in chronic fatigue patients.
• Eating Disorders Qi Gong has been found in studies to be a beneficial therapeutic intervention when used in combination with psychotherapy for the recovery of anorexic patients.
• The immune system Several studies have found improvements in a variety of immune-related blood indicators, including a reduction in markers associated with inflammation.
Parkinson’s disease is one example. Qi Gong exercises have been demonstrated in studies to enhance bodily functioning in people with Parkinson’s disease in the early or middle stages.
Who Can Perform Qi Gong?
Qi Gong may be performed by people of all ages and capacities since it is a slow-moving, tranquil, meditative type of exercise. This course’s motions are slow and easy, yet they are always carefully demonstrated and explained. Qi Gong will “meet you where you are,” allowing you to start practicing regardless of your age or fitness level, and will help you feel more calm and invigorated. You will feel assured every step of the way as you follow Master Holden’s instruction towards a more calm and invigorated existence since there are no sequences to learn.
