The Feldenkrais method, which has been compared to yoga pilates alexander and even reiki shiatsu qi gong, is a gentle yet powerful and effective method of physical therapy and wellness. The Feldenkrais Method is for anyone who wants to rediscover their natural abilities to move, think, and feel more fully and effectively in their everyday lives. Awareness Through Movement classes allow individuals and groups to practice the Feldenkrais Method without the presence of a practitioner.
Moshe Pinhas Feldenkrais created the method that bears his name. Feldenkrais presented his work in Europe and the United States in the late 1950s. He began publishing a series of books in the mid 1960s. After teaching month-long courses all over the world, he taught a 65-student teacher-training program in San Francisco for four summers from 1975 to 1978.
He began teaching the 235-student Amherst program in 1980, but could only teach the first two summers of the four-year program. Many of his students have carried on his legacy by recording lessons learned from Moshe’s training.
