Matthew Bechtold, MD, is a Clinical Medicine Professor in the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Missouri and the Harry S. Truman Veterans’ Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. He received his master’s degree in molecular biology from Southeast Missouri State University and his doctorate from the University of Missouri – Columbia. He then completed a gastrointestinal fellowship at the University of Missouri and a clinical nutrition program at the University of Louisville and Oregon Health & Science University. Dr. Bechtold is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a founding member of the Missouri Gastroenterology Society’s Governing Board and serves on a number of local and national health committees.
