Mike Reinold & Eric Cressey – Functional Stability Training for the Core
Archive : Mike Reinold & Eric Cressey – Functional Stability Training for the Core
This isn’t your typical core workout, complete with sit-ups, infomercial gimmicks, and sloppy medicine ball throws. Rather, this is teaching the core to perform as it was designed – to give trunk stability while concurrently moving the extremities during functional exercises.
Functional exercise postures and progressions can occur once the core has been taught to operate adequately on its own. We are all guilty of skipping stages or failing to grasp the fundamentals before moving on to further progressions much too frequently. This will just encourage bad movement patterns, leading to future muscular imbalances and ultimate breakdown.
The FST for the Core program may be used in programs for rehabilitation, injury prevention, and performance enhancement. The knowledge will assist the rehabilitation professional in moving away from typical passive therapies and low back rehab exercise. The knowledge will assist fitness and performance professionals in making fresh progress with their customers in order to optimize functional and athletic potential. The knowledge will assist exercise enthusiasts acquire control of their core, maximize functional movement, and prevent wear and tear caused by improper movement patterns.
There are several “core training” programs available. Functional Stability Training of the Core is not meant to overwhelm you with fundamentals such as non-functional anatomy of the spine or to progress you to unrealistic motions that are practically difficult to do without compensating. Rather, this curriculum dives right into methodology, showing you a streamlined approach to thinking about the core based on its fundamental role.
FST for the Core teaches you the fundamentals of core control.
Simple, yet quite effective.
