Concerning the Course
What do your dreams mean to you? Do men and women have different sexual drives in terms of type and intensity? Can apes pick up sign language? Why can’t we make ourselves laugh? This course attempts to answer these and other concerns by offering a broad introduction of the scientific study of thinking and behavior. It delves into perception, communication, learning, memory, decision-making, religion, persuasion, love, lust, hunger, art, fiction, and dreams, among other things. We will investigate how these characteristics of the mind grow in childhood, how they differ across people, how they are wired up in the brain, and how they break down as a result of sickness or damage.
Structure of the Course
