Fighting with a stick is an important component of martial arts, and instructor Paul Vunak demonstrates how to accomplish it.
Jeet Kune Do, based on Bruce Lee’s self-defense style, is highly respected by the greatest fighters.
To learn stick combat, the martial artist must first master the fundamentals of grasping the stick, footwork, disarming, striding, blocking, postures, and takedowns.
Timing, reflexes, power, speed, and full-contact sparring are also addressed.
Paul Vunak (born October 6, 1960 in Pittsburgh) is a martial artist best known for inventing the PFS (Progressive Fighting System).
At the age of seven, he grew interested in martial arts.
He began training in taekwondo at the age of ten and received his black belt at the age of fourteen.
In the years afterwards, he has studied several disciplines, including kempo, many forms of Kung Fu, and Escrima, before settling on the Jeet Kune Do (JKD) of Lee Jun Fan, under the tutelage of his own si-fu Lee’s most renowned disciple, Dan Inosanto.
In 1988, he earns the Senior Full Instructor degree from si-fu Inosanto and started teaching his version of JKD under the moniker PFS.
