The video depicts a 600-year-old European hand-to-hand fighting method. The film is based on Sigmund Schining ein Ringeck’s text from the Middle Ages (here is the original for those who want to check).
There are demonstrations of the so-called 12 lethal strikes (Mortstöße) and wrestling methods (Drei Ringen). Several training activities are also demonstrated. Pete Kautz concludes by explaining how to create and operate a self-training dummy.
Not surprisingly, much is identical to the Fairbairn / Applegate approach. When a basic mechanism for actual battle is required, humans repeatedly reinvent the same bicycle.
In general, much of what has been demonstrated may be found not just in the treatises of German masters of the 14th and 15th centuries. Fiore dei Liberi, an Italian master of the same era, uses many similar, if not identical, methods.
