Peter Aerts is a super heavyweight kickboxer from the Netherlands. He is widely regarded as one of the best heavyweight kickboxers of all time, with Remy Bonjasky, Andy Hug, Ernesto Hoost, and Semmy Schilt, for his powerful high kicks, which earned him the moniker “The Dutch Lumberjack.”
He won three K-1 World Grand Prix titles and made his debut in the first K-1 World GP in 1993, when he was defeated by fellow K-1 veteran Ernesto Hoost. In 1994, he won his first Grand Prix by defeating Rob van Esdonk and Patrick Smith in the quarter-finals and semi-finals, respectively, before defeating Masaaki Satake in the final by unanimous decision.
The next year, Aerts won the GP again, defeating Toshiyuki Atokawa by KO, Ernesto Hoost by decision, and finally stopping Jérôme Le Banner with body blows in the final. He would not win the competition again until 1998, when he knocked out all three of his opponents in front of 63,800 fans at the Tokyo Dome. In what is widely regarded as one of the finest Grand Prixs ever and the zenith of Aerts’ career, he stopped Masaaki Satake in the quarterfinals with a knee hit and forced the referee to call a halt to his semi-final bout with long-time rival Mike Bernardo. In one of the most momentous moments in K-1 history, he knocked out Andy Hug in the final with one of his famed high kicks. He won this competition in six minutes and forty-three seconds, which at the time was the fastest K-1 GP win ever. This record held until Semmy Schilt broke it in 2009.
Despite his last Grand Prix victory in 1998, he continues to participate and has reached the final three times (in 2006, 2007 and 2010).
This DVD will provide you with an excellent opportunity to develop as a fighter. Peter will show you his deadly strong knee and elbow techniques, as well as how to handle clinching situations, which are essential when attempting to avoid fighting or resting when weary.
