R. Brian Denton, Psy.D., Ph.D., is a Cleveland, Ohio-based licensed psychologist. Dr. Denton received his bachelor’s degree in psychology (B.A.) from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, his master’s degree in clinical and counseling psychology (M.A.) from Cleveland State University, and his doctorate in clinical psychology (Psy.D.) from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.
Dr. Denton also has a Ph.D. in Buddhist studies from Buddha Dharma University. Over the last 20 years, Dr. Denton has researched the eastern wisdom traditions extensively, traveling to a number of training institutions and monastic institutes in the United States and abroad to investigate meditation methods and their application to human psychological functioning. He is a Zen Master who received transmission as a Zen Teacher. He has led mindfulness and meditation retreats, teaches on his own, and applies his mindfulness knowledge in psychiatric therapy.
Dr. Denton has written about mindfulness-based treatment approaches as the lead author of the chapter “Clinical Uses of Mindfulness” in Innovations in Clinical Practice and as the third author of the book “Mindfulness in Clinical Practice,” which serves as a primer on mindfulness-based treatment approaches. He is an accomplished and sought-after presenter on a wide range of topics, particularly mindfulness, ACT, inclusion/diversity, and sexuality trainings.
