Pongee Barnes, Mrs.
“Building a Real Estate Portfolio with Little to No Debt”
Pongee Barnes is a political science graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale who was born and reared on Chicago’s south side. At the age of 19, I began my real estate profession as a college student in 2005, purchasing my first property in Chicago. I was able to persevere and purchase flips and rentals after purchasing two units during the most recent chaotic real estate market crash. Furthermore, from 2008 to 2011, I ran a furniture rental staging company that grew out of my enthusiasm for flipping houses and staging them. Following the closure of my business, I attended John Marshall Law School in Chicago. I’ve recently completed 20+ deals, both rental and flipping, and my current portfolio consists of 10 homes, a mix of multi-family and single family. My competitive advantage is that I am establishing a real estate portfolio with the least amount of debt possible. I am enthusiastic about real estate, but more importantly, I am passionate about motivating people to invest in real estate. This interest resulted in the publication of my first book, “Real Estate & Chill,” in February 2018. My spouse, who is also my business partner, and I love parenting our two boys.
