Tres Puntas Vols. 1-3 by Rene R.Tongson
ABANIKO TRES PUNTAS is a one-of-a-kind classical arnis combat style born in Antique, Philippines.
Mateo D. Estolloso invented and popularized no-rules duels as part of festivals and celebrations in the early 1930s.
His complex Espada y Daga (sword and dagger) tactics earned him the esteem of combatants all throughout the archipelago.
Mateo was exposed to countless confrontations as a querilla combatant when World War II broke out, bringing his sword and tailisman along with his springfield rifle.
Following the war, he continued his practice and developed methods including DUMOG (Antique native wrestling), from which the precise execution of HAWI-TAPI (Parries and impact blocks) in Mano-Mano, bone shattering traps, and takedowns were produced.
His skills were subsequently applied to the long swords and dagger, the predecessor of his Baston (sticks) system.
The triangular and nearly flawless shape of his strokes gave the ABANIKO TRES PUNTAS its individuality (fan style in three point or edge).
Mateo came to the United States in 1984, at the age of 70, for Arnis demonstration trips with Philippine Army General Marcos Villa Agustin, Constabulary General Wilfredo Estrada, and Grandmaster Ernesto Presas.
His student assistant RENE TONGSON accompanied him in all shows and demonstrations, where he was praised the most for his exquisite silk-like motions despite his young age.
Grandmaster MATEO D.ESTOLLOSO’s ABANIKO TRES PUNTAS is now extensively practiced across the world.
His fan base has grown to the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, Russia, Spain, Belgium, Greece, Italy, and most regions of the Philippines, including universities, colleges, schools, and martial arts organizations.
The worldwide organization is now led by Grandmaster Rene R.Tongson, the ABANIKO TRES PUNTAS heir. The original uploader deserves credit.
