JD Robert Landau Seminars and goods related to this topic: 3ROBERT P. LANDAU, JD, is a shareholder in the Providence law firm Roberts, Carroll, Feldstein &Pierce, Inc. and co-leader of the firm’s Healthcare Group from 2012 to 2016.
Mr. Landau is an experienced litigator who defends mental health professionals, hospitals, physicians, nurses, dentists, and other health care practitioners in professional malpractice claims and disciplinary hearings. He has considerable expertise defending social workers, mental health counselors, psychologists, and other professions before licensing boards, typically achieving no unprofessional behavior judgments or administratively closing investigations. He has successfully defended clients in Rhode Island and Massachusetts state and federal courts.
Mr. Landau has had a number of jury cases with big defense verdicts. He addresses any appellate concerns that emerge from his cases in addition to trying cases before juries. He has been before the Rhode Island Supreme Court on a frequent basis and has a number of documented rulings. Mr. Landau has vast expertise in alternative dispute resolution in cases when a trial is not the best course of action. His submissions to mediators and arbitrators assist clients in reaching advantageous settlements.
Mr. Landau received his BS from Duke University and his JD from Boston University School of Law. He is a licensed attorney in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Mr. Landau was named to the Rhode Island Super Lawyers list in 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018.

For nearly 30 years, Frederic G. Reamer, PhD, has taught in the graduate program of the School of Social Work at Rhode Island College in Providence, Rhode Island. Dr. Reamer earned his PhD from the University of Chicago and has worked in correctional and mental health settings as a social worker. He served as the chair of the national task committee that drafted the current National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics.
Dr. Reamer speaks about professional ethics, as well as professional malpractice and liability, both domestically and internationally. His research and teaching have covered a wide variety of human service concerns, including mental health, health care, criminal justice, and public welfare, in addition to ethics. Dr. Reamer has conducted extensive research on professional ethics and has participated in several national research projects funded by The Hastings Center, Carnegie Corporation, Haas Foundation, and the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Bioethics.
He is the author of professional ethics chapters in the Encyclopedia of Social Work, the Encyclopedia of Bioethics, and the Encyclopedia of Applied Ethics, as well as the author of numerous books, including Risk Management in Social Work: Preventing Professional Malpractice, Liability, and Disciplinary Action; Boundary Issues and Dual Relationships in the Human Services; The Social Work Ethics Audit: A Risk Management Tool; and his most recent, On the Parole Board: Reflections on Professional Malpractice.
