1. Discuss new information on the pathophysiology of common dermatologic diseases
2. Outline management plans for specific cases of dermatologic diseases
3. Explain in therapy based on clinical response, potential side effects, and appropriate monitoring of specific therapies.

Medical Cannabis in Texas

There seems to be more misinformation than information about medical cannabis in the LoneStar State. In this presentation, you will learn the basics in cannabinoid science, the political push-back, and the difference between what you think you know and what you should know. After this presentation, you will have a better knowledge base to make more of an educated decision on your own personal and professional stance on this controversial topic.

Objectives:

1. Differentiate between fact and fiction, politics and medicine
2. Feel confident discussing medical cannabis with patients when they ask
3. Feel comfortable about the plant and endocannabinoid system
4. Open your mind regarding the medical possibilities ahead

Dr. Rick Lin is a board certified dermatologist practicing in McAllen, Texas since 2006.  Dr. Lin earned his Bachelor degree in Biology at the University of California at Berkeley and received his medical degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth in 2001.He also graduated with a Master’s in Public Health at the School of Public Health at the UNTHSC.  He then completed a traditional rotating internship at Dallas Southwest Medical Center in 2002.

In 2005 Dr. Lin completed his Dermatology residency training at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri in conjunction with the Dermatology Institute of North Texas.Dr. Lin is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology in the primary specialty of dermatology.  He also holds certification of added qualifications for Mohs Micrographic Surgery.In addition, he is also a board certified sub-specialist in Pediatric Dermatology.
