Roland Maroto is Europe’s most senior and oldest master of traditional aiki jujutsu (Takeda ryu). Sensei Nakamura’s 8th dan hanshi-ho pupil, he has officially represented Dai Nippon Butokukai in the aikijujutsu direction outside of Japan since 2005, and he is also the coordinator of this organization in France.
The film displays the style’s history, rare and unusual images and movies from the 1970s, basic motions (warm-up, falling, moving, etc.), basic techniques (kihon waza), advanced techniques without and with weapons, and some advanced techniques are also exhibited.
The program is fairly comprehensive, with major aspects highlighted, yet there are no superfluous repeats. Each method is demonstrated from many perspectives, both fast and slow.
