What You’ll Learn in These 7 Modules
Ron will take you through the key actions and practices you’ll need to effectively convert your aging journey into one of completeness, pleasure, and deeper significance in this 7-module transformational program.
Each session will flow smoothly into the next, giving you a comprehensive, holistic grasp of the practices, skills, and concepts you’ll need to sustain your path into joyful, aware elderhood.
Module 1: Understanding the New Aging Paradigm
This workshop will contrast the current societal perspective of aging as a period of diminishment and loss with the growing, multifaceted, and empowering paradigm of aging (commonly referred to as “Positive Aging”). We will investigate why this transition is occurring as well as the numerous techniques that form this new paradigm. Then, as a vital basis for these varied approaches, we’ll offer “Conscious Aging” as the inner work required to attain the full potential of life’s latter chapters. In addition, we’ll look at the archetypal role of “Elder” throughout history, as well as the relevance of aware elders in these times of crisis – and enormous potential.
This module will teach you:
Much more is possible for your life as you mature than popular society acknowledges.
Aging brings loss and deterioration, but it also brings new opportunities for fulfillment, development, passion, and service.
How to best actualize these potentials through intentional preparation, with the inner effort of conscious aging being crucial.
Why it is critical to focus on who you want to be while you consider what you want to accomplish.
This is an archetypal summons to real elderhood in each of us that is frequently lost in the disempowering representations of aging that modern culture provides.
Conscious aging work assists you in responding to this call by nurturing your inner Elder, knowledge, and talents.
Module 2: Gracefully Entering Elderhood
We go through a substantial life change as we exit mid-life adulthood (the primary milestone frequently being attaining retirement age). All life changes have three phases: severance, neutral zone, and new beginning. We remove disempowering old emotional baggage and begin a new life chapter with a clear vision if we support this process of change within. Rites of Passage, whether organized or not, have facilitated the transition from one life stage to another throughout history, and are re-emerging now as vital components of conscious aging.
This module will teach you:
The move from mid-life adulthood to life’s latter chapters is a crucial life transformation for your mind, which is commonly announced by attaining retirement age (whether you retire or not).
All life transitions entail the three-stage dynamic of severance (ending), neutral zone (the space between who we were and who we can become), and the emergence of new beginnings.
You have the option of supporting this transformation in yourself or ignoring it to our harm.
The mechanics of this shift from traditional to contemporary rites of passage operate.
Module 3: Heal the Past in Order to Empower the Future
If we are to start our latter chapters with clear vision and dynamic vitality, we must first examine our life to identify what will help us moving forward, and then repair our past so that we are not burdened by old baggage on the trip ahead. For many of us, regret is an important factor that has to be addressed. Forgiveness, both of others and of ourselves, is also essential. Examining and rewriting the tales we tell ourselves about the meanings of events in our life immensely aids in healing our past. The Death Lodge practice is a powerful approach to bring healing and closure to our lives and relationships, allowing us to enter elderhood free of old baggage and as prepared as possible for our ultimate journey.
This module will teach you:
Life review is a critical component of conscious aging practice.
How to live your future aspirations free of unhealed scars, regrets, resentments, and disempowering tales about life occurrences.
Forgiveness is a method for releasing unhealthy ties to the past.
Discover how the Hero’s Journey may be a powerful catalyst for acquiring a transformative soul’s eye and a greater perspective of your life.
Rituals to help you let go of ideas, attitudes, behaviors, and identifications that are no longer serving you.
The Death Lodge practice weaves together numerous dynamics that can help you repair your past so you can go forward with clear energy.
Module 4: Transitional Living
As we begin to disassociate from our identity as mid-life adults, we reach what is known as “liminal period” or “the neutral zone.” Confusion, a sensation of being in a foreign place with no roadmaps, and a loss of purpose with no clear picture of a meaningful future characterize this period. It’s also full of possibility, as the seeds of a new vision and purpose germinate within us. There are methods we may take to assist us use this in-between period to get the fresh vision and vitality that await us in our senior years.
This module will teach you:
How to navigate and comprehend the neutral zone – that essential period between who you have been and who you can become – so that you may make the most of it as a preparation for your future.
Ways to tap into your entire potential while the seeds of your future vision blossom in you.
Meaningful techniques of entering this period intentionally in order to harness the tremendous benefit available in being aware of, and nurturing, these seeds of vision.
During this period, solitude and stillness are essential.
How spending time in nature may help you reconnect with the traits, values, and callings that are most real to you.
How to court synchronicities and dreams to offer direction for the future.
Module 5: Creating Our Elder Chapters’ Legacies
The main focus of this lesson is that leaving a legacy does not end with retirement. As seniors, we may leave a legacy of continuous growth and contribution to our planet. We leave a legacy by using the power of purpose to set objectives for our entire self as opposed to simply the popular “bucket list.” The “Ten Intentions for Ten Years” method can help us create and realize such goals. As seniors, it is critical that we establish lifestyles that reflect the correct balance for us between serving and enjoying, doing and being.
This module will teach you:
Your older chapters might be a crucial moment for you to leave a legacy that goes beyond what you’ve already accomplished.
The basic principles of successful intentionality, which has immense power and is required for you to realize your older years’ potential. “Ten Intentions for Ten Years” is a powerful technique that will assist you in growing toward completeness as you age.
Writing a legacy letter and/or participating in oral history work are both great methods to connect with your heritage and establish the framework for the legacy you have yet to make.
How to strike a balance between serving and enjoying, doing and being, which can be challenging but essential for aware seniors.
Module 6: Practices for Growing and Maintaining Consciousness
This session’s overarching subject is “The Self That Wins Is the Self We Feed.” This workshop will focus on a range of methods that we may utilize to nourish the self in us who are committed to aging consciously. Equally significant are patterns of life that dull our consciousness, fuel our fears, and drain our energies.
This module will teach you:
Practices for intentionally aging with a resolve to thrive in a mostly unconscious environment.
Methods for navigating unconscious sabotage and creating a future based on clear visions and conscious aspirations.
Several strategies to help you stay mindful while feeding your best self.
Techniques for changing behaviors and ways of life that dull your awareness, fuel your anxieties, and drain your vitality.

This session will focus on the importance of finding the support of like-minded others if we are to successfully undertake the journey of conscious aging. We will explore the growing variety of organizations creating supportive communities for our elderhood, including Co-Housing, the “Village” model and others.
We will look at programs, such as Elder Wisdom Circle, the IONS Conscious Aging Program, Sage-ing International’s workshops and the Choosing Conscious Elderhood retreats, which enable people to have the support of community as they do their conscious aging work. And we will explore opportunities for conscious elders to engage in the community service and social action that are crucial in helping the world move successfully through The Great Turning. This session will also address themes that come up throughout the course that call for further discussion, amplification or clarification.
