It’s no secret that individuals are putting more strain on their knees than ever before. Knee injuries are widespread in everyone from young athletes to weekend warriors to active elders. Knee injury patients all around the country are turning to physical therapists, athletic trainers, and strength and conditioning specialists to help them enhance their function and recover from surgical treatments. Ryan August, PT, DPT, MTC, CMP, CSCS, focuses on knee injury and treatment and will give you renewed confidence in applying current scientific and exercise research to active individuals with knee pathologies.
Ryan will tell you how to choose the right activity for the patient at the right stage of healing after an ACL repair. Evidence on ACL stress caused by certain exercises, healing timeframes, and graft selection implications will all be thoroughly discussed. Learn about the most recent biomechanical and pathophysiological ideas, as well as therapeutic options for patients suffering with patella femoral discomfort and patellar tendinopathies.
Advances in meniscal and cartilage care, as well as long-term possible progressions to OA and post-operative treatment for Total Knee Replacement patients, will be discussed. Ryan will teach you ways to assist manage your return to exercise or sport, limit injury and re-injury, and measure and demonstrate achievement. Ryan August, PT, DPT, MTC, CMP, CSCS, is a Physical Therapist and Therapy Coordinator at the Augusta Center of Health and Rehabilitation. His extensive expertise includes working in an outpatient orthopedic environment, where he preferred hands-on therapy supplemented by exercise prescription. Ryan has been in charge of several difficult knee injuries and ailments in his current and previous employment. Ryan has treated patients of all skill levels, including professional, Division 1, high school, weekend warrior sports, and your neighbor who gets up every day to go to work, so he knows the difficulties that come with such a diverse range of engagement and personality.
While working on his PhD, he earned accreditation in manual therapy and became a Certified Mulligan Practitioner. He is also certified in Kinesio taping by the Kinesio Taping Association. He is a member of the New England Shoulder and Elbow Society, has taught at the college level, and has presented national-level continuing education courses on a range of orthopedic-related issues.
Ryan’s continued clinical experience and commitment to great patient care will be obvious in his clinical orthopedics practical presentation.
