During this one-hour CE session, we hope to share our personal experiences with caring for patients with COVID-19 as well as how COVID-19 has changed practice in both the emergency department and on a health-system level. We will discuss objectives from both a pharmacist and nurse perspective and aim to relate to a broad audience of pharmacy practice areas. We will also provide clinical, practice, and mental health resources that we have found useful in dealing with the challenges of caring for all patients in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify clinical and practice resources for COVID-19 management (both clinical and practice).
- Describe current challenges in patient-caregiver (pharmacist, provider, nurse) relationships.
- Recognize various ways in which clinical practice/concerns have changed for front-line workers with regard to PPE and drug shortages, among others.
- Identify resources for emotional and mental support and apply strategies to identify mental health concerns in self/colleagues.
