This martial arts DVD continues the documentation of Yin Style Bagua’s lion system application methods. The lion method in Yin Style Baguazhang reflects the pure yang of the Qian trigram with strong, forceful, and direct strikes. However, the final two of its offensive tactics, grabbing and clutching, might be considered “the yin inside the yang,” as they need a high level of awareness to, and manipulation of, the opponent’s force. Many Chinese martial arts consider seizing (qin) and grasping (na) to be synonymous. Yin Style Bagua, on the other hand, addresses both separately: seizing methods attempt to dominate the opponent so that he cannot utilize power to resist, whilst grasping techniques aim to harm or maim the opponent, thereby terminating the battle. This video is meant for practitioners who are already familiar with the Qian trigram lion system’s fourteen grabbing and gripping forms. Techniques from each of these forms are chosen and explored, together with descriptions of hand and body movement, stepping, and application of force, to provide a fuller knowledge of their complexities.
There are numerous examples of combining several grabbing and gripping strategies.
In 1971, He Jinbao began studying Yin Style Bagua with Dr. Xie Peiqi. He has committed himself to educating, teaching, and recording this discipline in the hopes that future generations of practitioners will continue on its extraordinary force and efficacy.
