This seminar will cover important lessons learnt from physician burnout. It will define burnout, talk about statistics, and advocate for reform in our healthcare system. It will showcase novel ideas as well as tips for overcoming personal burnout. It will cover critical subjects for students, residents, and fellows to avoid burnout. It will demonstrate how patient education may play a significant role in overcoming burnout. It will provide our administrators, directors, and leaders with vital information to help them prevent burnout. Finally, we’ll talk about a call to action and how you can help save lives and eventually reform the system.
Objectives:
Identify common burnout misconceptions and why a mindset shift is required.
Discover easy ways to overcome personal burnout.
Make a list of realistic training strategies for students, residents, and fellows.
Discover how appropriate patient education might help to reduce burnout.
List new burnout-fighting strategies for administrators, executives, and directors, as well as why they are vital.
Determine how you can save lives and positively impact the system.
Dr. Sheri Tate is board qualified in both emergency medicine and internal medicine. She has worked in the medical sector from the age of 16, holding several hospital and pre-hospital positions. She received her undergraduate degree from UCM, her DO degree from KCUMB, and her EM/IM residency in Cleveland, OH. She encountered burnout firsthand during residency and discovered novel strategies to be a “life-long survivor” in medicine. She aspires to help physicians rediscover balance and joy by combining personal tales, practical advice, and EBM.
