La historia oficial, 1985. Luis Puenzo’s La historia oficialfollows an upper middle class couple living in Buenos Aires with their illegally adopted child. The mother comes to realize that her daughter might be the child of adesaparecido, a victim of the forced disappearances that occurred during Argentina’s military dictatorship during the 1970s and 1980s. Students will discuss the film’s historical, cultural, and political significance through our vocabulary modules: Argentine dictatorship and politics, social and family tensions, violence, feminism, and film criticism. Through the grammar points presented in this course, students will be able to express complex thoughts and opinions. In Spanish III (B) students can expect to cover the following: the imperative mood; the present subjunctive mood; the past subjunctive mood; servs estar; and relative pronouns.
