Trilian was built from the ground up to be the most flexible bass virtual instrument available today, offering a new level of expressive, real-time performance for acoustic and electric basses, as well as cutting-edge synth bass tones with strong editing and exceptional sound quality.
Trilian is the successor of Spectrasonics’ award-winning Trilogy bass instrument, providing greater creative freedom and sound shaping capabilities. Trilian’s 34GB library is ten times larger than Trilogy’s and contains all new acoustic, electric, and synth basses.
Trilian is the first instrument to include core library interaction with Spectrasonics’ flagship Omnisphere® synth, allowing Trilian’s sounds to be used within the Omnisphere environment for further sound creation and keyboard/bass splits.
PERFORMANCE
The new acoustic and electric basses in Trilian have been meticulously sampled. The software’s intuitive, automated selection of legato and release articulations as the user plays, along with the vast ‘Round-Robin’ variants presented for realistic sounding bass lines with repeated notes, results in a more dynamic and delicate playing experience. New multisampled dynamic slides allow notes to authentically slide from one to another. Each of the new basses has multi-channel mixing of phase-locked microphone/amplifier and direct outputs.
INSTRUMENTS FOR BASS
Over sixty various four, five, six, and eight string electric basses are available in fingered, picked, fretless, slapped, tapped, and muted technique variants, giving a wide range of tones for every musical genre. A Music ManTM 5-string Studio Bass, Chapman Stick®, LaklandTM Rock P-Bass, Clean Fender® Jazz Bass, a Hardcore Rock Bass, a Retro 1960’s Epiphone® Viola Bass, and many more are among the latest Electric Basses.
Trilian’s gorgeous new Acoustic Bass is the most complex instrument Spectrasonics has ever published, with 4 audio channels and over 21,000 samples! All of this, paired with Trilian’s high-resolution sound streaming, adds a level of realism to performances that is absolutely amazing.
CREATION OF SOUND
Trilian has newly created 4-Pole “Juicy” and “Power” Filter algorithms with oscillating resonance that are suitable for electronic bass sounds for synth sounds. Hundreds of synth soundsources were developed utilizing more than 30 of the most exotic and sought-after hardware synthesizers, ranging from the earliest Moog® Taurus Pedals to the most recent boutique analog modular synthesizers. For sound design, there are a plethora of incredibly powerful editing options available, including the “FlexMod” modulation system, Dual Filters with over 19 filter types, 6 multistage looping envelopes, 6 full-featured LFOs, dual morphing modulation, modulatable FX racks, and much more.
All of the acclaimed FX processors from Omnisphere and Stylus RMX are included in Trilian’s FX racks, including a broad range of amp and speaker models, distortions, dynamics processors, equalizers, chorus, phasers, flangers, delays, reverbs, unique specialized FX, and more.
LEGACY
Trilian, Spectrasonics’ next-generation bass instrument, features updated versions of Trilogy’s core library, bringing it to a new level of sound and expressiveness. As an added bonus, Spectrasonics’ original “Bass Legends” multisamples, including Abraham Laboriel, John Patitucci, and Marcus Miller, have been restored and added to the Trilian collection (bass sounds which some hardware synth users may remember from popular Roland Xpansion boards and the classic MBD-1 rack bass module).
INTEGRATION
Trilian is the first virtual instrument to provide core library integration with the award-winning Omnisphere synthesizer from Spectrasonics. Trilian’s whole sound collection may be explored within Omnisphere for additional synthesis and performance options.
Trilian’s Arpeggiator incorporates the “Groove Lock” technology pioneered by Spectrasonics in Omnisphere and Stylus RMX’s Time Designer, which means that the feel of bass patterns created with Trilian’s Arpeggiator can be perfectly synchronized between all three Spectrasonics instruments with a simple drag and drop action.
INTERFACE
The new Custom Options interface on the Main page of each patch highlights the most relevant and fascinating sound modification controls for that patch, and a single button can even change many parameters to produce unique FX. The Custom Controls are fully MIDI Learnable and Automatable, and users may develop their own Custom Control combinations.
