Steven C. Hayes, PhD, is the co-founder of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), the best-selling author of Get Out of Your Mind and Into Your Life, and the Nevada Foundation Professor at the University of Nevada’s Department of Psychology. He is the author of 44 books and approximately 600 scientific publications, and his study has revealed how language and thinking contribute to human misery, and he invented ACT to remedy these processes. Hayes has served as president of various scientific associations and has won numerous national honors, including the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies’ Lifetime Achievement Award.
