PRINCIPLES OF KENDO VI BOKUTO NI YORU KEIKOHO WAZA KENDO KIHON
Kendo Principles VI goes into great length on the “Bokuto ni Yoru Kendo Kihon Waza Keikoho” (“Basic Kendo Techniques Training Method with the Use of Bokuto”). It is an excellent resource for learning this Training Method correctly, whether for regular practice or last-minute preparation for Dan promotion exams. This DVD shows both right and improper moves that are typical among beginner students.
This DVD may also be used as a self-training guide for Kenshis who wish to learn the correct “Bokuto ni Yoru Kendo Kihon Waza Keikoho.” Dojo instructors may utilize this DVD as supplemental training material for their pupils as well. We describe the training process and key features of each motion in various sections of the DVD.
Kendo Principles VI is entirely narrated in English for ease of comprehension, and the camera is shot from various viewpoints.
Slow motion photos are also used to show accurate and erroneous examples from various viewpoints.
The DVD constantly shows all nine movements in the first portion of the presentation.
The second segment then goes over each action in depth, teaching how to do it correctly and pointing out frequent pitfalls.
This DVD goes through the following topics in depth:
– The principles of Bokuto ni Yoru Kendo Kihonwaza Keikoho – The goal of studying the Bokuto ni Yoru Kendo Kihonwaza Keikoho
– Kamae, Reiho, Metsuke, Maai, Datotsu, Ashisabaki, Kakegoe, Zanshin – Awareness during instruction
– Enter/Exit the Dojo – Nine exercises (Kihon 1–9) – Tips for Improvement
“I began Kendo in Brazil in 1975 and have visited many different Dojos all around the world since then. I was very lucky to have been trained by a variety of Senseis, all of them were excellent teachers. They not only taught me Kendo techniques, but also the foundations of human character. I’d want to thank all of my Senseis and other Kenshis for their patience in practicing Kendo with me.
Many people have asked me whether there is a decent instructional Kendo DVD available in languages other than Japanese, and I have yet to locate one. This is why I decided to create one myself, with the intention of assisting many individuals interested in Kendo outside of Japan.
This DVD is based on what I’ve learned and developed over the course of my 36-year Kendo career. My Kendo knowledge is far from flawless, but I have done my best to include what I know and have been taught.
I welcome any comments or recommendations for improving the quality of the forthcoming volumes of this DVD series.”
