I am a self-taught computer programmer. I learnt to program effectively enough after a year of self-study to gain a job as a software engineer II at eBay. When I arrived, I realized I was woefully unprepared. I was overwhelmed by how much I needed to know yet hadn’t yet learned. This course was inspired by my experiences learning to code and working as a software engineer at my first job.
Although you will learn to code, this course is much than just that. It is not enough to learn to code if you want to program professionally; that is why, in addition to helping you learn to code, I also cover the rest of the things you need to know to program professionally that schools and books do not teach you. The Self-taught Programmer is a road map, a how-to manual that will take you from developing your first Python program to passing your first technical interview. The course was broken into five sections:
Learn Python 3 programming and create your first program.
Learn Object-oriented programming and create a strong Python software to hook you.
Discover how to utilize technologies such as Git, Bash, regular expressions, and databases. Then, using your new coding abilities, create a web scraper.
Learn the essentials of computer science, such as data structures and algorithms.
Finish with advice on how to operate in a team and get a programming job.
Professional programming may be learned. The road is clear. Will you accept it?
