Basic Self-Defense Instincts: Unarmed Attack Defenses This is a self-defense DVD that explains what to do if you are assaulted by an unarmed person.
It is based on Judo and is based on response reflex and grappling.
This isn’t a complete system like Wing Chun or Krav Maga.
It is still good to see whether getting a man to the mat with grappling maneuvers is the style you need to practice.

“…
I watched your movie Basic Instincts of Self-Defense with a buddy who is a US Marshal, and we both agreed that it is an excellent DVD! The film is of high quality.
This is not one of those cassettes that appears to be homemade and contains a half-hour to an hour of nonsense.
Your tape has a lot of punch….
There is a genuine attempt here to teach someone in the comfort of their own home…. ”

“I loved your self-defense DVD, Basic Instincts of Self Defense.”
Its clearly planned out development and easily taught, basic yet extremely powerful tactics that do not rely on grabbing a wrist or finger in the midst of a hectic, high stress scenario pleased me.
As the narrator stated in the introduction, “No joking” about that specific philosophy of self-defense technique implementation. Hey, I used to be one of those self-defense instructors, but after viewing your movie, you completely changed my mind.
Straightforward, efficient, and unflinching (pun intended)! My DVD library’s “gold standard.” —Greg Premo, 5th Dan Tae Kwon Do, 1st Dan Judo, Personal Defense Readiness (www. tonyblauer. com) Russian Kettlebell Certified/Challenge (RKC), Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC)—1995–2002, Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)—1998–2002, Underhill, VT, with Adam Laclair “Your technique selection and graded progression from armlocks through clinch and throws, defenses against grabs and holds, and defenses against punches and kicks are amazing.”
This tape’s methodology and explanation, simplicity, and practical approach are what I enjoy about it.

It bridges the gap between Aikido skills and practical self-defense.”

This isn’t one of those ‘how to fight any attacker in 15 minutes with only three easy movements’ videos.
“I would suggest this video cassette to everyone.”
I especially suggest it to beginning and intermediate students who are unable to attend regular self-defense classes.
Get a partner, some decent mats (the falls in this video can be rather harsh), and this movie.
“I don’t believe you’ll be disappointed.” —February 1998, Martial Arts Video Reviews Editor’s note: Armlocks can fix any issues for someone who is having trouble mastering throws (shown as the first program on Basic Instincts of Self-Defense).
This is worth seeing.
It will not blow your mind, but it is thorough in its coverage.
