Tony Horton One on One – On One Leg (Vol 2. Disc 7)
Duration: 35 minutes
Summary: A workout for the arms and shoulders while standing on one leg.
If you’re healing from a strain or injury, you might use this supplement with any of the weight loss plans.
Intensity: Less strenuous than any of the P90x resistance workouts.
Tony appears in this video with an elbow bandage. He mentions that he has been dealing with a lingering ailment and that he will not be lifting as high weights in this session. The workout includes many of the usual P90x shoulder and arm movements (military presses, kickbacks, curls, 21s, pike presses, and so on), but everything is done while balancing on one leg to increase the intensity. To make this work, Tony and I both reduced the weight from the norm. This was a unique exercise. I must admit that I did not feel compelled to work as hard as usual. Obviously, maintaining balance is difficult, but it’s not the same as groaning to get more reps with heavier weights.
It’s noteworthy to note that during this exercise, Tony makes it clear that he’s suffering. Mason, the video guy, likewise goes beyond with the Tony adoration. I’m not sure how many times he appreciated Tony’s calves or complimented Tony on his hard work. Guys, get a room.
This is another fantastic workout, but I’m not sure I’ll include it into my future workout regimen on a daily basis. I can see it being beneficial if you’re healing from a muscular strain or other injury—a it’s fantastic way to do some lighter-weight activity while working the core. However, unlike the other heavier exercises in P90x, it will not target the upper body.
