Richard Schwartz began his career as a systemic family therapist and academic, and he is currently on the faculty of Harvard Medical School’s Department of Psychiatry. He is also a Senior Fellow at Arizona’s Meadows rehab clinic. Dr. Schwartz created the Internal Family Systems model (IFS) in response to clients’ descriptions of various elements within themselves.
