If you could only have one set of magic DVDs, this is it! This classic compilation includes nearly all of magic’s most lasting and iconic effects and routines. It’s a fantastic collection containing several of the world’s finest masters demonstrating their handlings and routines for some of magic’s classics. This fantastic DVD reference package includes themes such as linking rings, sponge balls, mental bending, cups and balls, thumb tips, Zombie, color-changing blades, and many, many more. Each book focuses on a single topic and includes new, old, and even rare material from some of magic’s greatest video makers.
Professor Hoffmann brought the folding coin into magic literature in the late 1800s. Since then, magicians have devised new ways to do the famous Coin in Bottle trick, for which the gimmick was originally designed, as well as other unique applications for this distinctively gimmicked coin.
This book contains David Roth’s version on what has now become a street magic classic: a piece of a coin is clearly bitten off and then expectorated back into place. The Coin in Bottle will then be approached in five distinct ways. Johnny Thompson begins by performing and teaching his version, which he refers to as one of his “pet tricks.” The trick is then performed by Karl Norman, one of the world’s greatest bar magicians. David Roth follows with a wonderfully weird adaption that also teaches some crucial information on the maintenance and management of folding coins. Then, Michael Ammar teaches his signature variations, which include a squeaky-clean entry and, in the stage version, a similarly clean ending. To round out the set, David Roth concludes with two completely different uses for the folding coin, the first as a method for magically producing coins in the hand and the second as a method for performing the classic Coins Through Table so that the coins appear to vanish into the surface of the table.
There’s a solid reason why the folding coin has been around for so long. If you’ve never witnessed an audience’s stunned silence as they watch a coin appear to pass into and out of a solid glass container, you’re losing out on “one of the five strongest effects you can perform with a coin,” according to Michael Ammar. And you’ll learn everything you need to know on this DVD to include a folding coin effect into your “A” list of content.
