Melissa Q. Leavy graduated from St. Louis University School of Law with a Juris Doctorate with a Tax Concentration in Estate Planning. She has a Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Melissa is a licensed attorney in both Missouri and Illinois. She has earned the National Elder Law Foundation’s Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA) designation. She has served on the board of the Missouri Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
During law school, she interned with the Internal Revenue Service and the Missouri Department of Revenue, aiding in complicated litigation and tax problem settlement.
Melissa is a VA-accredited attorney that represents clients in Medicaid and VA eligibility issues, as well as the settlement of various Missouri Department of Social Services, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and other Social Security Administration programs. Melissa’s VA licensure allows her to actively represent clients in their first claims and appeals for Veteran Benefits. She assists clients and their families with Medicaid, Veteran’s Benefits, other government programs, tax and estate planning, asset protection and Special Needs Trusts, and Probate problems.

Quinn, Brian

Brian Quinn is the sole proprietor of Quinn Estate & Elder Law, LLC. He advises individuals and businesses on a wide range of legal issues, including Estate Planning, Asset Protection Planning, Medicaid Planning, Veterans Benefits, Elder Law, and Special Needs Planning. Brian has been recognized by Super Lawyers Magazine as a “Super Lawyer” in the subject of elder law. He is a member of both the Missouri and Illinois bars. He is certified by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs to help in the preparation, presentation, and prosecution of Veterans compensation claims before their agency. Brian has held many roles with the Missouri Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (MONAELA) and the Metropolitan St. Louis Bar Association (BAMSL). Brian served as President of MONAELA in 2019 and remains on the organization’s Board of Directors. Brian is also a member of the Greater St. Louis Board of Directors for Voyce (previously the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program). Brian is a Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout.
Rook, Lori

Lori Rook is the Managing Attorney and Owner of Ozarks Elder Law, which has seven offices in Southwest Missouri. She was born in Springfield and reared there. She received her undergraduate degree with honors from Missouri State University in 2003. Lori earned her law degree from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 2006 before relocating to Springfield to work and raise her family.
Lori has concentrated her practice in the fields of Elder Law, Probate, Estate Planning, Business Formation, Real Estate, and Litigation since 2012. Lori’s previous practice was in Civil Litigation, especially premises liability, insurance defense, contract disputes, product liability, premises liability, medical malpractice, and real estate. She worked for a local defense company and a big defense firm during that period, earning crucial litigation and trial expertise.
Lori is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and the President of the Missouri Chapter of the NAELA (NAELA). She has also served on the Missouri Bar Probate and Trust Committee and the Elder Law Committee as a member and Vice-Chair. Lori is a member of The Missouri Bar, Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association, Southern Missouri Women Lawyers, Greene County Estate Planning Council, Catholic Business Network, and Christian County Bar Association. Lori is a certified VA attorney and is licensed to practice law in Missouri state and federal courts.
Lori is dedicated to serving her community outside of her practice. Lori is a member of Legal Services of Southern Missouri’s Judicare Panel and Volunteer Lawyer Panel. Lori also serves on the board of the Nixa Chamber of Commerce and is involved in a number of other organizations, including the Junior League of Springfield, where she previously served on the board and is currently the chair of the Scholarship Committee. She has also served on several state and municipal committees.
Lori’s experience and dedication to delivering quality legal representation has won her the respect of the legal and commercial communities in Southwest Missouri. Lori’s legal performance was recognized statewide in 2015, 2016, and 2017 when she was named one of Missouri/Kansas Super Lawyers’ “Rising Stars.” She was named a “Trusted Advisor” by the Springfield Business Journal in 2016. In 2017, Missouri Lawyers Weekly named her one of Missouri’s “Rising Stars,” and later that year, Missouri Lawyers Weekly named her a “Law Firm Leader.” She was chosen for the Springfield Business Journal’s 2019 Class of “40 Under 40.” Lori is also a 2019 Leadership Springfield graduate and a 2017 Ozarkleads graduate.
Lori spends her free time speaking to community members and other professionals about elder law issues at the local and state levels. She also enjoys running and spending time at Table Rock Lake with her husband and three children.
