DescriptionDescription:
“The era of average is over,” Pulitzer Prize winner Thomas Friedman recently said. Everyone in the twenty-first century will need to find something unique in order to stand out in their field. ” What can mental health and substance addiction professionals do to enhance their performance? According to the study, attending a standard continuing education course, specializing in the treatment of a specific ailment, or learning a new therapeutic strategy do not improve efficacy. For the past decade, Scott D. Miller, Ph.D., and colleagues at the International Center for Clinical Excellence have been tracking the outcomes of thousands of clinicians throughout the world. Along the way, they discovered critical methods that separate extremely effective therapists from regular physicians. How much better do these high-performing individuals perform? On average, they outperform their equally qualified and certified counterparts by 50%. Furthermore, the best have far lower dropout rates and deliver better and more consistent results across a wide range of client diagnoses, presenting difficulties, and degrees of motivation. Participants in this workshop will learn three key strategies that distinguish the good from the great. Attendees will not only learn a basic method for assessing their efficacy, but they will also learn how to create a profile of their greatest and least successful practices—what works and what doesn’t. Step-by-step, evidence-based instructions will be offered for using the profile to identify and eliminate weak spots while enhancing effectiveness and efficiency.
