The Atone-Attune-Attach approach of couples therapy for recovering after a disclosed extra-relationship affair is detailed, along with concealment deceit. Each of the three stages has four goals. The functions of conflict avoidance and self-disclosure avoidance, as well as the Gottman-Rapoport conflict design, are examined. The Gottman Re-covery Kit is detailed for dealing with at-tachment injuries and unfortunate previous experiences. The Gottman-Rusbult-Glass cascade serves as the foundation for this therapy. The roles of cherishing and gratitude vs trashing and betrayal are debated, as is the notion of attunement and trust, as well as CL-ALT and treachery.
Objectives of Education:
Participants will be able to explain how conflict affects trust and betrayal.
Participants will be able to describe the role of CL-ALT in the betrayal cascade.*Content and confidentiality may be modified during sessions*
