This session focuses on pair therapy with partners and couples that are severely disorganized. Special emphasis will be placed on the significance of a solid therapeutic frame (rules) and therapeutic posture (goals). Attachment theory, regulation theory, and neurobiological development will be used to highly disordered partners and couples.

 

Objectives of Education:

List at least five principles of secure operation.
Describe at least five clinical diagnostic indicators for assessing disordered states and features.

Stan Tatkin, PsyD, MFT, is a clinical psychologist, researcher, instructor, and the creator of A Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy (PACT®). He maintains a professional practice in Calabasas, CA, where he has specialized in dealing with couples and people who want to be in partnerships for the last 15 years. He and his wife, Tracey Boldemann-Tatkin, founded the PACT Institute to train other psychotherapists in the application of this approach in clinical practice.
