Prof. Thomas Szasz, M.D.
2 hours and 43 minutes.
Audio only format
Original air date: December 12, 1985
DescriptionDescription:
Illness and therapy, like lock and key, are symmetrical concepts. Because the word “mental disease” is deceptive, I prefer to use the term “psychotherapy,” which refers (or should refer) to a certain type(s) of dialogue, discourse, or scenario of personal impact.
Objectives of Education:
To comprehend the metaphorical significance and strategic value of the word “psychotherapy.”
Discuss why and how the medical model of psychotherapy is both the concept’s strength and weakness, as well as its proper applications.*Content and confidentiality may be modified during sessions*
