DescriptionDescription:
Dr. Szasz will provide a brief historical overview of drug controls in the United States, as well as a critical analysis of the transformation of the drug trade from a free market at the turn of the century to a tightly statist system of controls today, as well as a market-oriented analysis of the “drug problem.”
Objectives of Education:
To describe the political-economic environment of the drug trade: that is, how are different substances available, or not available, in our society today.
To give a free-market study of drug misuse (addiction) as a societal problem, explain the incentives that characterize the “problem” as an illness, and highlight some of the most harmful outcomes of the War on Drugs.
To provide a critical – moral and political – perspective on the War on Drugs and the lessons this modern mob madness may teach us about the actual nature and function of all sorts of psychotherapy and psychopathology.*Content and confidentiality may be modified during sessions*
