Language has two functions: it informs and it expresses. The expressive component is responsible for eliciting changes in emotion, sensation, “state,” and physiology. Facial expression; speech modulation; gestures; sound effects; behavioral modeling; social mimicry; hesitations; and closeness will be discussed. Exercises, demonstrations, and lectures
