DescriptionDescription:
We are all formed by an essence, the substance we are made of, the hero within.
Milton H. Erickson had to fight for his life and every day living due to his various health issues. His example is unusual in many respects, and he is a unique model; a hero for many of us. Milton has also evolved into a storyteller.
There are certain metaphors deep within us among our models, heroes, and the stories that have been given to us, the ones we’ve constructed, and the ones we’ve assimilated. What do we call them? How do they shape and influence our lives? How do we put them to use? How do they motivate our actions, feelings, and sensations? How do we interact with them? How do we distribute them between ourselves?
In this session, we will create an inventory of the heroes we’ve incorporated into ourselves, as well as the stories that are constructed on our profound metaphors, using a series of questions. We shall go and examine in both constructive and unproductive ways the resources that have contributed to our development and structure. We shall play with such heroes and models in unknown or ill-defined ways.
This course will discuss how to use heroes in our therapy aims for inner change and how to assist the patient become the hero inside.
Objectives of Education:
Employ our hero models and deep metaphors as tools for inner change; define how we will use those heroes and metaphors in our therapeutic aims.
