INFORMATION ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Deborah M. Henson, MSW, LCSW, J.D., LL.M. is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and lawyer with over 25 years of professional experience and over 15 years of teaching mental health practitioners on the intersection of clinical practice and litigation. She maintains a psychotherapy practice in New Orleans, teaches social service organizations, and consults on a regular basis with doctors around the country who are involved in various forms of legal actions, including disciplinary proceedings. Deborah also practices law, with an emphasis on mental health law, ethics consultation, and risk reduction. She has represented several lawyers and mental health professionals in malpractice and disciplinary proceedings. Ms. Henson has regularly lectured on mental health ethics, risk reduction, and effective collaboration with attorneys to assist clients who are involved in ongoing litigation.
Deborah graduated from Tulane University with a Master of Social Work, Loyola University School of Legal with a Juris Doctorate, and the University of California, Berkeley—Boalt Hall School of Law with an LL.M. (advanced law degree). She has given continuing education presentations and general lectures for the National Association of Social Workers, the NASW Louisiana Chapter (Annual Conferences), the Louisiana Association of Clinical Social Workers, the Tulane School of Social Work, the University of Texas School of Social Work, the St. Edward’s University Professional Education Center, the New Orleans City Attorney’s Office, the Prime Time CLE Institute, the Tulane School of Law, and other organizations. Deborah is a clinical social worker licensed in Louisiana and Texas, a Board Approved Supervisor in Texas, and a lawyer allowed to practice in Louisiana, Texas, and federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court.
