Clients who have experienced trauma frequently shun anything that reminds them of it. As people retreat to apparent safety, they find themselves doing fewer and fewer things, forsaking beneficial behaviors, and ignoring the connections that provided them joy and significance.
It’s a prolonged practice of avoidance that keeps their symptoms alive and intensifies them. And until you stop this pattern, your treatment strategy may fail.
Behavioral Activation (BA) equips you with the tools you need to confront avoidance behaviors and re-engage clients in activities that offer them with the safety, confidence, and support they require to stay in treatment and share painful emotions and experiences with you. BA may help clients minimize avoidance patterns and PTSD symptoms by identifying and achieving goal behaviors. It can be used as a standalone intervention for PTSD as well as a beneficial preparatory tool for trauma-focused therapies you are presently utilizing.
This one-day workshop will teach you how to use Behavioral Activation in your trauma therapy to help clients minimize avoidance, restart valued behaviors, and re-engage in their life!
