Dick Clarke is a property/liability insurance business veteran who has worked as an underwriter, broker, and consultant during both hard and soft market cycles. He was recently Senior Vice President of J. Smith Lanier & Co., a regional brokerage based in Georgia, from which he retired in late 2016.
He writes articles and teaches on a range of executive liability, cyber, and E&O topics, and he serves as an expert witness, commercial insurance buyer consultant, and insurance company product development consultant. He teaches in continuing education programs for numerous professional insurance groups. His works are accessible on Amazon.com, with the most current, Executive Liability Insurance: From the Fundamentals to an Advanced Approach, entering its fifth edition in 2012. (and available in hard copy format through Amazon.com). [In 2013, this book was translated into Japanese for the Japanese Risk Management community.] Clarke was the inaugural recipient of the CPCU Society’s “Distinguished Instructor in Insurance” award in 1996, and contributed content and editing for The National Alliance’s on-line course on Directors and Officers Liability insurance (2015 to present).
