Dr. Paulson graduated from Oklahoma State University (OSU) with a bachelor’s degree in physiology and a master’s degree in zoology. Later, at the OSU Center for Health Sciences, he earned a PhD in biomedical science with a focus on pharmacology and physiology, as well as a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and is now enrolled in the Osteopathic Health Policy Fellowship at the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine. He became a family medicine physician after almost a decade as a forensic scientist with the FBI, New Mexico State Police, and the Tulsa Police Department. In 2005, one of his cases was featured on A&E’s Cold Case Files television show. He has worked as a rural family care physician in Missouri, as Chief Medical Informatics Officer, and is currently the Chair of Primary Care at KCU’s Joplin campus. Dr. Paulson is the current President of the Missouri Academy of Family Physicians, as well as the Vice President of the Community Clinic Board of Directors in Joplin, Missouri.
