These five lectures on mythology and modern society, originally delivered between 1962 and 1967, have never been published. Background hiss and microphone pops create a “live” environment in which Joseph Campbell, best known for THE HERO WITH A THOUSAND FACES, comes to life, joking, telling anecdotes, and retelling myths. As usual, the talk is centered on his unique viewpoint on how the intangible world operates. Campbell’s gravelly voice and well-crafted words captivate the listener, pique the imagination, and raise concerns about our religious and cultural beliefs. (c)AudioFile, Portland, Maine, M.B.K.
