Josh Earl – Email Copywriting Workshop

Do you have a pang of guilt when you see the number of email subscribers piling up in your MailChimp account?
You Should Email Them More Often…
But, what are you supposed to say?
Believe me, I understand how you feel.
Hi, My name is Josh Earl.
Several years ago, when I was just starting out as an internet business, I became extremely angry and tired with my email marketing.
On the one hand, I was absolutely convinced of the need of having an email list.

I’d recently released my first product, and following the launch, I discovered that email accounted for more than HALF of my purchases.
So for months following that, I focused all of my energy and attention on obtaining as many individuals as possible on my email list.
And it worked: after a few months, I was adding hundreds of new signups every month, and my list grew like a snowball rolling down a hill.
Then one day, after all that hectic blogging, tweeting, and SEOing, I realized I had a new problem:
“So… “What Am I Supposed to Do With All These Email Subscribers?”
It all looked quite straightforward at first—I just did what I saw everyone else do, which was write blog pieces and share them with my list.
Then, every now and then, I’d provide an update regarding the thing I was selling.
Really, it’s kindergarten stuff.
However, 4 + 5 = 9 does not get you into Harvard, and I quickly realized that this naive strategy accomplishes little more than leave your list idling on standby…
It was certainly not enough to compel my email subscribers to buy from me.
I’ll never forget the agony of sending out emails that I’d sweated and tortured over—and receiving ZERO sales.
(Rejection stinks, especially when you don’t know WHY you were denied…)
As time passed, I became increasingly “wrapped around the axel” about this.
And, because I didn’t have a plan in place, I’d find any reason not to contact my subscribers.
Every time I sat down to send an email, I’d find myself fiddling with my blog’s style, wandering aimlessly around Google Analytics, or reviewing my (lackluster) sales data over and again…
Basically, anything to keep text from appearing on the screen.
It’s easy to understand how I got into this habit…
For starters, simply pushing SEND and sending a message out to hundreds of strangers requires more than a little boldness, if not daring.
The doubts pile up:
What if my email is dull?
What if my readers despise what I’ve written?
Then there’s the extra, eh, pain that comes with “selling.”
Let’s face it:
If you’re even remotely sane, you probably don’t appreciate the idea of hawking your wares like a carnival barker.
And it’s easy to get the impression that you’re merely emailing your list to make a fast buck off of your subscribers.
How… self-centered of you.
And your customers aren’t stupid. They’ll recognize your blatant self-interest for what it is…
And they’ll group you in with the rest of the sleazy marketers hawking cheap medicines to improve your “manhood”…
It makes no difference whether you’re the farthest thing from a spammer.
You put a lot of effort into your product, and it solves a REAL problem and improves the lives of your customers…
Still, you’re convinced that everyone will unsubscribe or, worse, that you’ll be inundated with spam complaints…
Your email software will then prohibit you, and your business will be devastated, RUINED…
At least, that’s what my head was telling me, and—
My steady diet of email marketing “tricks” only made matters worse…
At the same time, I was working my way through a never-ending backlog of email marketing blog pieces and podcasts…
And here’s something I discovered:
Knowledge Doesn’t Always Equal Power
The more I discovered, the more perplexed and immobilized I got.
I wasn’t sure what the proper “format” for my emails should be.
Or even what to include.
Alternatively, what NOT to include.
Or when and how I should promote my items.
When I sat down to write, my mind became clogged with competing advice, viewpoints, and strategies, and I’d simply freeze.
What I ultimately discovered was:
All of the marketing strategies and copywriting methods I was memorizing were mainly useless.
When it comes to crafting intriguing emails, a few fundamental concepts are all that is required.
The more I concentrated on those concepts and methods of thinking…
And formed the habit of doing things on a regular basis…
The easier it was for me to think of anything to say.
In fact, I began to see email concepts wherever I looked.
I’d be going about my business when an email idea would strike me—a tale or an instructive nugget that I knew my readers would enjoy.
And I’d find myself eager to rush to my laptop in order to share this thought with my subscribers.
Sitting down to write an email began to seem less and less like WRITING…
And it’s becoming more and more like TRANSCRIBING.
I no longer have to worry about what to say or what to write about.
I have many more ideas than I will ever be able to implement.
The best aspect is that you can cherry pick the finest ideas—the email you feel like writing today, about a topic you KNOW your subscribers want to hear more about, that will get them going…
You’ll approach your writing with the unshakeable assurance that only CLARITY can provide…
You’ll “get out of your head”—and out of your own way—to write the emails you know you can write…
The sort that your subscribers WANT to hear from you.
And the following four weeks will be all about providing you that same degree of assurance.
The Email Copywriting Workshop is now available.
How to Create Interesting, Educational Emails That Your Subscribers Will Enjoy…
And increase your sales without spamming your mailing list.
The Email Copywriting Workshop is a four-week intensive workshop designed to give you the skills and confidence you need to produce engaging, instructional story-based emails that are a great match for YOUR audience, YOUR business, and YOUR voice.
This course is being designed to answer the most often asked topics and concerns, such as:
– How do I come up with email subject lines?
– What should I say in my emails to keep my subscribers interested—to keep them opening and reading?
– How can I incorporate a pitch in my emails without coming off as sleazy or spammy?
– How can I generate tales to use?
– When is it permissible to talk about myself in emails, and how can I do so without being self-centered and obnoxious?
– How do I compose emails that seem genuine?
This is not going to be a “information dump.”
While there are many excellent books and courses available on email copywriting methods and email marketing tactics, I discovered the hard way that additional information actually impeded my ability to compose outstanding emails.
The goal of this course is to simplify the process so that you can start writing better emails and making more sales right now.
And, because this is a workshop, it will be highly hands-on and practical.
I’ll walk you through the simple 3-part formula I use for 80-90% of my emails, then show you how to apply it to emails for your own audience.
There are activities available to assist you in developing a “sixth instinct” for amazing email ideas. You’ll receive daily experience in coming up with ideas and transforming them into emails that successfully market your product or service.
Each of the four week-long modules starts with a video lecture that introduces the key principles and concepts you’ll be using.
You’ll have a daily action step that should take between 15 and 30 minutes most days. (I have some ideas on how to make this enjoyable and keep your motivation high—more on that after class.)
And once a week, I’ll offer a bonus session in which I go over student submissions and emphasize what works and what needs to be improved.
You will have unrestricted email access to me during the session to have your questions answered.
In addition, you will receive support, comments, and encouragement from myself and your classmates in a private forum.
(In previous sessions like this, I found that I learnt almost as much by observing other students as I did from the facilitators.) You’ll be able to see what your classmates are doing in their companies, as well as the advice they’re receiving from me and other students.)
Get Personalized, Just-For-You Advice on Your Email Copy and Sales Funnel ($500 Value) as a Bonus.
You’ll also receive a “copy review certificate” as a student in this course, which enables you to a free, personalized video walkthrough and by me of any marketing copy you choose.
In this session, I’ll use screen capture software to go through your emails and sales text and show you what’s working—and what you can do to enhance your optins, engagement, and sales.
Typically, I charge $500 for these 30- to 60-minute appointments.
“That sounds fantastic… So, how much will this cost?”
Let us now discuss the tuition.
This class is intended to be the first step in a comprehensive training about creating high-converting email courses, which will be offered at a later date.
That course will most likely cost at least $1,000, and potentially as much as $2,000.
But, before I publish the entire course, I’d like to fine-tune this material by working with a small number of students in a “pilot” version of the course.
I determined that the best approach to accomplish this would be to provide this session for a reduced charge of $497 (or three payments of $197) in return for your honest and helpful feedback on the training.
As a student in this pilot session, you will have more access to me and more direct feedback than in the bigger course.
(I should also clarify that if and when I launch the full course, I’ll automatically upgrade you.)
And because this is a test run,
The enrollment is strictly limited to 21 students.
The goal of this course is to ensure that YOU receive the time and direct attention you require to improve your email writing skills—and expand your business.
I’ve opted to keep the class size modest so that I can offer you the attention your company deserves.
As a result, enrollment will be closed as soon as the 21 available seats are filled.
