PhD, RN Kathleen Kovarik Seminars and goods related to this topic: 3Kathleen Kovarik, PhD, RN, is a seasoned clinician and educator with 17 years of experience teaching and speaking in a wide range of venues (nursing schools, regional and national conferences, seminars, and retreats). Her clinical experiences have brought her from a Level I Trauma Center Regional Burn Unit at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle to summers doing home care for Visiting Nurses in Spokane, WA, to helping to create a Parish Nursing program in Missoula, MT. Kathleen currently resides in the Black Hills of South Dakota, where she works as an Ethics Committee member for Regional Health in Rapid City, as the director of Faces of Leadership (leadership training and consultation), teaches Applied Health-Care Ethics for Regis University in Denver, and as clinical faculty for the University of South Dakota’s medical school.
Dr. Kovarik has continued her interest in ethics and has taught ethics material at Washington State University and South Dakota State University for many years. Her background working in a Level I Trauma Center/Burn Unit as well as in home care/parish nursing provides her with a broad perspective and unique experiences to offer. She specialized in pain management and end-of-life care, and she was chosen to serve on the Board of the Washington-Alaska State Cancer Pain Initiative and to pursue a fellowship in pediatric pain management at the University of Colorado.
