Changes in prostate cancer epidemiology will be explored in this presentation, as will issues around prostate cancer screenings and improvements in prostate imaging to better identify patients.
Objectives & Goals:
Explain the PSA antigen, prostate cancer (incidence/prevalence, death), and screening recommendations.
Describe the PSA test’s possible limitations and false positives (including BPH).
Develop PSA referral values in males of various ages.
Dr. Katie Murray is a Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine graduate of A.T. Still University. Following graduation, she completed urology residency at the University of Kansas and urological oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Dr. Murray is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Missouri and the Medical Director of Urologic Oncology at the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center in Columbia, Missouri. She is also the University of Missouri School of Medicine’s Assistant Professor of Surgery, Research Clinician Tenure Track. Dr. Murray belongs to various organizations, including the Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, where she now serves on the Education and Convention Committee.
