In the past few years, a number of medications have been introduced that lower the risk of cardiovascular disease in patients with diabetes. Previously, cardiovascular risk reduction was not correlated with A1c. Now there are new tools to reduce cardiovascular risk in those with diabetes. This lecture will review strategies to provide patients with diabetes with the greatest cardiovascular risk reduction.

Kim Pfotenhauer, DO
Kim Pfotenhauer is a board certified osteopathic family physician and assistant professor at Touro University California College of Osteopathic Medicine in Vallejo, California.A graduate of Michigan State University, Dr. Pfotenhauer splits her time between clinical practice, academic teaching, and research in metabolic disease. She is currently completing a fellowship in diabetology at Touro University California and is board certified in advanced diabetes management.
