An Overview of OmHarmonics and Mindvalley
OmHarmonics is a subsidiary of Mindvalley, an American new-age organisation situated in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
They claim to be the revolutionary future of meditation and have identified a market for creating new technology and teachings to promote healthy mental states and lifestyles.
Their core claim is one of empowerment via education, in order to “Be Extraordinary,” as Mindvalley’s central tagline demands.
They create app firms like Omvana (which provides audio meditation assistance) and Elula (which provides self-development education), as well as health and fitness platforms like Zenward (for yoga).
They are attempting to flex their fundamental objective of global education revolution from infancy to adulthood.
These varied educational practitioners are pushing a new wave of audio meditation tools.
An major element of their tool set is engineering noises, which are said to improve attention and concentration, extend creativity, raise problem-solving abilities, aid in pain control, erase limits, and increase learning capacity.
These are obviously high statements, and it’s easy to be skeptical about them. So let’s be (constructive) critics and examine the result.
For the sake of this evaluation, keep in mind that the primary facility of such activities has activated and brought out the best in those who are focused on positive outcomes.
Any personal critique I may have and that you may read is in order to provide a comprehensive evaluation.
Before we begin, you may want clarity on the audio technologies that we’ll be discussing…
What’s the big deal here? What is the product exactly, and how does it work?
Binaural Beats is the sound technique employed. If you’re a frequent reader, you’ll be familiar with this technology; if not, here’s the lowdown:
Binaural beats are intended to be played through headphones at two separate frequencies into each ear.
Your brain detects them and converts them into a third frequency, which is equalized by subtracting the two frequencies.
This frequency then resonates with your natural brainwave patterns, which function at a different frequency depending on the degree of activity in your brain.
To put it another way, frequencies are measured in Hertz (Hz). When you’re deep asleep or meditating, your brain is running at an extremely low frequency known as theta, which ranges from 4 to 8Hz.
In comparison, beta (active and cognitive mental state) brainwaves range from 14000 to 40000Hz (or 14-40KHz).
Binaural beats may have the left ear frequency playing at 205Hz and the right ear frequency playing at 200Hz.
So the leftover hertz is 5 Hz, and this frequency residue is what your brain perceives and resonates with, which is a theta wave for meditation purposes.
This is known as brainwave entrainment. Overlays of unrelated ambient soundscapes may be added to binaural beats to improve the ambiance and experience.
So this is just regular binaural beats that you can get elsewhere, right?
Not exactly. To top it all off, OmHarmonics advocates Multivariate Resonance Technology (MRT), which “guides you into a state of profound relaxation by harmonizing your senses with audible heartbeats and breathing noises,” going above and beyond ordinary binaural beats technology.
To be honest, I have no idea what this even is. I may look into it and be able to tell you more in future article, but there is no solid proof for this that I can discover.
In this regard, I must agree that I believe there is more aggressive promotion of the OmHarmonics site than I am used to seeing in my favorite brainwave entrainment environment.
But this is why Mindvalley has quickly progressed from a mediocre eBook firm to a multi-million dollar enterprise.
You must deal with a really strong sales component, and you may feel the product is less than zen after having to suffer the corporate machine selling here.
Marketers appear to grasp what’s going on, yet their excitement may terrify some of you. Maybe they’re reading this and want to make a note of it. I’m trying to be helpful here.
Put on your game face. You understand why you require the goods, but they are attempting to assist you on the presumption that you are unaware of the beneficial features available.
If you’re not cynical, you might call this degree of marketing enthusiasm.
To me, it’s costly advertising that demonstrates the product is already extremely successful by sales generating in order to fund the advertising.
The Test – It’s crunch time!
I was offered a free sample of the program, which featured brief 15-minute versions of each audio, as well as ‘The Balance: Level 1′, which you can access by entering your email address on the web page.
I was anticipating the normal resonating binaural frequencies, but the composition shocked me.
It just doesn’t have the punch of, say, BinauralBeatsMeditation or Ennora things.
To be honest, as a binaural beats aficionado, I initially dismissed this as generic and obsolete relaxing music.
Okay, I’ll remember to put on my game face. I have to remind myself that the overlay is only for harmonic purposes, to mask the sometimes-uncomfortable nature of the main guts’ steady humming in frequency, which some people don’t like – but I do.
The binaural frequency components were used in and out of hearing range for 15 minutes. The music overlay continued to disrupt the fundamental frequencies.
However, I felt much better and more calm as a result. It wasn’t mind-blowing, but I’m overly entrained and, at times, impervious.
In short, OmHarmonic’s music is more accessible and would be appropriate for listening to during a yoga session.
When Compared to Other Brands
So, as someone who is accustomed to listening to raw tones and BB songs where the tone is highly noticeable, I initially felt like something was lacking.
The fundamental frequencies are frequently audible in the aforementioned brands and normal BB things.
Hardcore binaural lovers and audiophiles would enjoy this since it focuses on the frequency response process rather than attempting to produce a “beautiful” musical composition to which you may become connected.
However, I believe this is the aim here. It’s aimed towards newcomers and people who enjoy it in the middle. In some ways, this is the brainwave entrainment industry’s pop-music brand. And some pop music is enjoyable….
Possible Applications for OmHarmonics’ Soft Style
As previously stated, OmHarmonics’ audios are less jarring than the bulk of binaural music on the market.
They would be ideal for any type of relaxation therapy, as well as cooling out and relaxing in general. Depending on the track you’re listening to, you might utilize these audios to create a calm environment or to focus your attention.
What Is Included in the Package?
Each audio track is available in 15 and 30 minute bundles to accommodate short and extended sessions. The numerous tracks – named… – are meant for different periods of the day.
The Beginning of the Day
The Center of Attention
The Flame
The Stability
The Deep Sleep
These various songs vibrate at different frequencies to correspond with different brainwave types at various times of the day.
Okay, stop messing about, how much?
This bundle is available for $149 as a complete. You will receive an mp3 file in the finest 320kbps quality. The hard copy CDs will cost an additional $150 ($299 total).
You get the five tracks stated above in 15 and 30 minute versions, a bonus ‘3 Most Important Questions’ video and.pdf, plus a 90-day money-back guarantee.
If you are short on funds, you may pay in two payments. If you order CDs, they will be sent to you anywhere in the globe.
So, what’s my honest assessment here?
I’m not a fan of Mindvalley’s aggressive pitch; it undermines the industry’s legitimacy. But I do feel the affects of Omharmonics, even if it’s a lighter mood for a nerd like me than some of the other programs I listen to.
Though I must admit that I prefer lighter records such as “The Focus” for when I am working or need some music for contemplation.
So, if you’re new to brainwave entrainment or don’t mind tracks with a heavy frequency hum rumbling beneath the soundscape, this is a set of audios you’ll enjoy.
Who doesn’t desire more leisure and productivity these days? OmHarmonics is clearly filling a void in the modern marketplace by providing a useful coping tool for those who lead high-pressure lives. Excellent work.
Please let me know what you think.

Hello, Lawrence.
It was a joy to read your review. I agree with the overall tone of your blog… MindValley products are used by me… and am particularly fond of the Company and ‘Vishen L.’ I’ve enjoyed many of their products, including a fairly expensive one from Harv T Eker called ‘Secrets of a Millionaire Mind,’ which was particularly effective. Harv is a great mentor to me.
Regarding OMHARMONICS, I strongly agree that their current marketing is borderline ‘pushy/off-putting’ for this type of product….. it is also absurdly expensive for what is essentially entry-level Binaural Beats MUZAK.
Among other Meditation products, I have long used HOLOSYNC by CentrePointe. Even though it has heavy rain and chimes Soundscape overlays, this expensive material is much more along the lines of raw tones. This can be very ‘rough’ at times and definitely disrupts brain patterns, as I’ve noticed. I always give my brain a day to’rebuild/recover’ after sessions. Having said that, the effects are long-lasting and progressive. My mental stamina outperforms people 30 years younger, and my focus can be hyper-intense for extended periods of time when necessary.
I believe your underlying point about Mindvalley’s marketing being “not very Zen” for a Meditation product is as important as the relatively lightweight nature of this expensive product. I believe we have a classic business example of marketing style not matching the product… The Holosync Marketing is just as ‘pushy,’ but their product is a hundred times more powerful / effective – at least when compared to the free OMHARMONICS samples I’ve tried.
Excellent article.

Hello, Rod. I appreciate your feedback. In the last 7 or so years, Mindvalley has become a marketing machine, and I believe that not only OH, but many of their products are now misleading and do not align with the ethical approach to life and business that Vishen has always claimed to be driven by. But, I suppose, this is symptomatic of growth, profits, the “bottom line,” and having employees to pay. They are a large organization that must constantly release new programs to keep the machine oiled and moving forward. I used to use Holosync and still do now and then, but I prefer stuff with a more musical composition built around the frequencies, like the BBM tracks, because it’s a bit raw, as you say. Anyway, I’m glad to hear you’re still reaping significant benefits. Best wishes.

Hello, Lawrence.
Thank you for your feedback on OmHarmonics. Binaural beat technology appears to be ‘too good to be true,’ according to my skeptical but hopefully open mind. I’ve looked into and listened to a few brain entrainment programs, but I’m still hesitant to dip my proverbial toe (and wallet) into the water. Do you have any specific suggestions?

Hello, Mimi. There’s a lot of science to back it up — I’ve summarized some of the main studies over the years. I’d recommend starting with a track like BinauralBeatsMeditation.com. Listen to it first thing in the morning before you begin your day. I guarantee you’ll feel less stressed, more focused, and happier overall. Please keep me updated on your progress!
