The Transition from Paper to Canvas

Internationally acclaimed artist Joseph Todorovitch teaches you his tonal approach to figure drawing in this 10-week course, which is intended and customized exclusively for painters.

You will learn to draw the figure in the first part of the course, with an emphasis on value masses, shape design, and edge quality in relation to the form. You will explore a procedural method that requires you to work simply at first and then progressively increases in complexity. The second half of the course will focus on adapting this method to oil painting. Following an examination of the relationship between the two mediums, you will be exposed to color mixing and color theory. This course will teach you how to do drawings as preliminary studies for paintings and will give you a basic grasp of figure painting.
